Catchment Based Approach Funding Award for 2016-17

We are pleased to say that FWR has been awarded a further grant from Defra’s Water Environment Improvement Fund to continue as the host of the South Chilterns Partnership.

During the period 2015-2016 habitat improvements were made along the Pang and the Wye, creating a significant number and range of new habitats for fish and invertebrates. This was to address issues of poor riverine habitat caused both by diffuse pollution from urban surface water drainage, and rural diffuse pollution. The work involved placing woody debris and gravel in the watercourses and pruning trees which were causing problems through shading.
