EU Research

EU research aims to provide national governments with the scientifically sound information needed to reduce the adverse health impacts of certain environmental factors. The policy goal is to fill knowledge gaps by strengthening research and addressing emerging issues on environment and health.

FP7 is the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013. FP7 also addresses Europe's employment needs, competitiveness and quality of life. An update on FP6 and FP7 research that provides links to sources of information on current FP6 projects, as well as an assessment of water research funding possibilities under the four specific FP7 programmes is available on this website.

Publication of Research Outputs

TECHNEAU is a European Commission funded project that addresses the ability of traditional systems and technology for drinking water supply to cope with present and future global threats and opportunities. For the last five years the TECHNEAU project has provided the EU’s main source for dissemination of research outputs, training and exploitation of knowledge in the drinking water sector.

Free online access to all finished results and deliverables is available from the Techneau website. Publications of DG Research, including those made by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre can be accessed through the EU Bookshop, where most reports can be downloaded for free.
