There is an increased range of materials available for sewerage applications and there may be significant economic advantages to a more informed approach to materials selection.

An increasingly competitive market place has made it more difficult to formulate objective technical decisions on materials. Information from suppliers is fragmented and focuses on the advantages rather than the disadvantages of a particular material. A need was identified for a Manual that provided impartial information in the one publication.

The Manual aims to provide reference information and a procedure for selecting materials for sewers and pumping mains. It draws on a wide base of knowledge and experience from operators and manufacturers.

This Manual has been prepared under the direction of the WSA/FWR sponsored Sewers and Water Mains Committee through the Pipeline Technology Group and Sewerage Working Group.
