SUMMARY

I OBJECTIVES

To provide support to the revision of the WHO Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality.

II REASONS

The WHO Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality are internationally recognised as a source of information for setting national standards for drinking water. These now need to be revised and expanded.

III CONCLUSIONS

The revision of the WHO Guidelines is a more comprehensive exercise than ever before and the revision process although slightly behind schedule is progressing well.

IV RECOMMENDATIONS

There should be continued support for the Guideline Revision.

V RESUME OF CONTENTS

Progress with the revision of the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality is described and discussed. The position with the individual sections, pesticides, organics, disinfection related products, inorganics and microbiology/biology is discussed.
